Regular Green Tea

Each region growing tea produces a characteristic flavor and experience. You can view our regular green list by growing region, or look below for our entire list of regular green teas.

China
China, the birthplace of tea, produces incredible green teas. Two of the most famous teas are Long Jin (Dragonwell) and Yang Xian Mao Feng. The flavors tend to be a bit nuttier and more savory than green teas from Japan.

Japan
Japan’s first experiences with tea came when Buddhist monks brought the beverage east from China. Tea developed into art in Japan, as Chanoyu, the Japanese tea ceremony. Loose-leaf tea became popular later in the form of “Sencha” a steamed green tea favored by scholars. The flavor profile of Japanese green tea is slightly sweeter and more vegetal than Chinese tea.

A world famous Chinese pan fried green tea with broad flat leaves and a delicious aroma with a mellow, classic, green tea flavor. This is a very nice mid-grade "Lung Jin" tea, also sometimes called "West Lake" tea, and is one of the most sought after teas worldwide. In China this tea is often given as a present, or tribute, and is enjoyed there and here by those who love green tea. The Teacup is happy to provide this outstanding tea at such an "everyday drinking" price.

A classic Japanese green tea, Kukicha is the traditionally roasted stems of a camellia senensis plant. From the same plant that earlier in the season produced sencha or bancha, this is the stems from the trimming of the plants for their wintering over, and is sometimes referred to as twig tea. Rare in the States until recently, it's a lovely example of Japanese tea at its most accessible. Naturally low in caffeine, with a satisfying roasty taste, this tea is enjoyable both hot and cold.
