Teacup Class Information
In our experience, the more people know about tea the more they enjoy it, and the Teacup has wanted for years to offer classes to help everyone enjoy their tea more. It is with great excitement that we announce our new class schedule offering a series of hands-on classes on our favorite subject, finding and brewing great tea. Each class will include one of our extremely knowledgeable staff brewing and serving the tea as well as talking about it to a small group. Except where noted, classes start at 7pm at our Queen Anne store, and will go for about an hour. The cost is $2. Classes for August 2009Thursday, August 20th — Making Great Iced Teawith Brett Boynton, Manager of The Teacup In this class we'll learn more about iced tea brewing, find some teas that are amazing iced, and look at several different ways to brew excellent iced tea. We'll also learn some of the history of how iced tea became more than 90% of the way tea is consumed in the US, and you'll learn some of the Teacup tricks to making great iced tea batch after batch. Thursday, August 27th — The Teas of Japanwith Brett Boynton, Manager of The Teacup In this class we'll focus on the history and customs behind Japan's many delicious teas, considered one of the world’s most intact tea cultures. We will use traditional Japanese tea ware for a more authentic experience, tasting some of the finest teas the world has to offer. Saturday Tastings — 11amwith Brett Boynton, Manager of The Teacup Since 2003, Brett has been tasting teas with customers nearly every Saturday, in the traditional Gung Fu style. Enjoy a current selection of our most exciting Asian teas, brewed for you with incomparable skills by Brett, with discussion of their origin, production style, and history.
